The Vital Role Nurses Play in Organ Donation
Every April is National Donate Life Month, which focuses on a truly life-saving cause: organ, eye, and tissue donation. Thousands of people wait for a second chance at life, relying entirely on the generosity of donors. Nurses stand at the very heart of the healthcare system; witnessing the critical need for transplants firsthand, caring for patients waiting for a match and helping those recovering from life-saving surgeries. Because of this unique position, nurses play a vital role in the process.
Beyond the bedside, nurses educate their communities and possess the medical knowledge and the trusted voice needed to clear up common myths about organ donation. One donor can save up to eight lives and heal more than 75 others through tissue donation. Hope can turn into reality for those waiting for a transplant. Here are a few additions and updates made in the most recent release.

Schedule Templates
- The issue where Inactive staff members weren’t clearly labeled or able to be replaced on the Schedule Templates screen has been fixed. Now, staff members with an Inactive status will be highlighted in light red and available for selection in the Current Employee drop-down list when using the Replace Employees button.
- From the top menu, select Templates > Schedule Templates.
- Select a template and select the View button. The template displays with Inactive staff members highlighted in light red.

- Select the Replace Employees (arrows) button in the Template Wizard. The Replace Employees pane opens and the Inactive staff members are now available in the Current Employee drop-down list.
NOTE: Inactive staff members will continue to be hidden from the New Employee drop-down list. |

Staff Categories
- The issue where error messages prevented users from saving changes made on the Staff Categories screen has been fixed. To view, select Templates > Schedule Items > Staff Categories.
Schedules & Icons Enterprise Report
- The issue where exports didn’t retain applied filters in the Schedules & Icons Enterprise Report has been fixed. To view, select Reports > Enterprise Reports > select the Filters button > Scheduling category > Schedules & Icons report > select the Apply button > filter the data as desired and select the Export to Excel or Export to PDF button.

Use the new Shift Type Categories screen to configure the options that are displayed in the Categories drop-down list on the Shift Types screen.
NOTE: Superuser permissions is needed to configure the Categories list. |

|
|
Configure the Categories List:
- From the top menu, select Superuser > System Settings > Shift Type Categories.
- Select the +Add Shift Type Category button. A blank line is inserted at the top of the data grid.
- Select a Status.
- Enter a Category Name, assign a Pay Code (optional), and select whether the category is Productive or Non-Productive.
- Select the Save icon.

- Select the Edit Pencil icon in the Action column to edit the settings for an existing category.
|
|
|
|
|
Assign a Category to a Shift Type:
- From the top menu, select Templates > Schedule Items > Shift Types.
- Select the +Create New button to create a new shift type or select the Edit Pencil icon next to an existing shift type. The Create New Shift Type / Edit Shift Type pane displays on the right side of the screen.
- Select a new Category from the respective drop-down list and edit the other fields, as desired.
- Select the Save button.
