Department Messaging, Schedule Visibility, and Manager Access Updates

Scheduling teams often need to coordinate messages across departments, review staffing details quickly, and manage user access with enough control to keep day-to-day work moving. When messages are harder to follow across shifts or key schedule details are harder to see in context, even routine follow-up can take more manual effort than it should.

Recent updates in ShiftWizard help strengthen that work through enhancements to Message Center, Daily Schedule visibility, and manager access settings. Recent changes include a new Department Message Center option for shared department-level messaging, new Primary Department and Location columns on the Daily Schedule, and a new enterprise setting that can restrict gold key access to SuperUser and SuperUserPlus login types.

These updates can help teams coordinate communication more consistently, work with clearer staffing context, and manage access with less follow-up.

What’s New and Noteworthy

Department Message Center supports shared department messaging
A new Department Message Center enterprise setting allows sites to enable a shared inbox and outbox for department managers. When enabled, messages sent or received there are visible to other managers in the same department, helping support continuity across shifts and more timely follow-up on department-specific communication [WI 12208].
Availability: ShiftWizard Message Center (Support team enablement required)

Daily Schedule now includes Primary Department and Location columns
Department and Location columns are now available in View Settings on the Daily Schedule screen. When added, they show each staff member’s primary department and primary location, helping managers identify floated staff, understand clinical background, and make more informed assignment decisions [WI 3492].

Manager gold key access can now be restricted by enterprise setting
A new enterprise setting allows sites to hide the Manage User Access gold key button unless the user has a SuperUser or SuperUserPlus login type [WI 12686].

Message Center resend issue has been fixed
An issue where successfully sent Message Center messages remained in Processing status and were resent every three hours has been fixed [WI 13966].

Product and Application Highlights

Additional highlights this month include related updates in schedule review, staff profile visibility, templates, and mobile display.

Float Pool Managers can now view Absences data
The issue preventing users with a Float Pool Manager login type from viewing the User Profile > Absences tab has been fixed.

Daily Schedule Past and OT values have been corrected
Incorrect values in the Past and OT columns on the Daily Schedule screen have been fixed for organizations using a time and attendance interface.

Inactive users no longer appear on Schedule Templates
Inactive users will no longer display on the Schedule Templates screen, helping reduce cleanup and support more accurate template maintenance.

Mobile Shift Details now displays long shift types more clearly
On the mobile app, Shift Type tiles on the Shift Details screen now automatically resize to show the full shift type instead of truncating longer values.
