Expected Next Week: “NPSG Basics” Updated to “NPG Basics”
The Joint Commission is updating its accreditation framework for 2026, transitioning from the long-standing National Patient Safety Goals (NPSGs) to new National Performance Goals (NPGs). These changes reflect a broader shift toward performance-based measurement, continuous improvement, and organization-wide accountability (learn more). To help ensure SafetyQ subscribers are ready for this January 1 transition, we’re updating our SQ: National Patient Safety Goal (NPSG), Basics course accordingly, including a title change to SQ: National Performance Goals (NPGs), Basics. Once released, all new enrollments will automatically receive the updated version. Any learners in progress with the current “NPSG Basics” version must complete by December 31, 2026.

Expected Next Month: “Regulatory Course Wizard” Includes State-Specific Recommendations
In late June, we released the “Regulatory Course Wizard” to guide administrators through creating a curated training plan for various audiences, like Clinical, Medication Dispensing; Non-Clinical, Patient-Facing; Physicians & Practitioners; etc. (review here). Currently, the Wizard returns applicable regulatory requirements and recommended courseware to meet requirements from CMS, OSHA, HHS, and the EEOC. In January, you’ll see updates to your initial dropdown selections, so the Wizard can recommend applicable state-specific courses and allow you to filter your results by regulatory body (preview here)! In addition, check out these recent enhancements:
    • Live: We updated the “Create Curriculum” button, so you can choose to create a curriculum or a course bundle. NOTE: In addition to Help’s definitions and guidance, we recommend reviewing this Community discussion for key considerations in choosing a curriculum or course bundle.
    • Live: Easily view each recommended course's storyboardbefore creating your curriculum or course bundle (review here).
    • Live: Before creating your curriculum or course bundle, deselect any courses that you would like excluded. NOTE: You must still save your curriculum before you can begin adding any courses.
*Remember, the Wizard may include courseware from SafetyQ and ComplyQ in its recommendation. Any courses not included in your current contract will be highlighted (review here). You can only view storyboards for your contracted courses, and you must have access to SafetyQ Exclusive Content. If you do not, you must be assigned/complete this course: Community Access to SafetyQ Exclusive Content (FOR ADMINISTRATOR USE ONLY).

Effective December 2026: Retirement of Learning Plans & Custom Notes
Due to low utilization, SafetyQ administrators will no longer have access to the Learning Plan and Custom Notes features after December 31, 2026. If you’re currently using these features, our Success Managers will contact you soon to discuss alternatives, including how to smoothly transition to our widely adopted Regulatory Course Wizard and Smart Notes features. We’ll provide more information via these notifications and Community leading up to next December’s retirement of Safety & Compliance Learning Plans and Custom Notes. Over the next year, we also look forward to announcing more enhancements to the Regulatory Course Wizard that will incorporate some of the additional time-savings and personalization offered by Learning Plans.
