Coming Next Month!
Beginning next month, our monthly newsletters will transition from product-specific updates to solution-based communications. For credentialing clients, this publication will now be called the Credentialing Monthly Notification. This new approach will allow us to share a broader, more connected view of relevant news, enhancements, and resources across the solutions your organization uses. It will also place greater emphasis on upcoming and recent quarterly product releases, helping you stay informed about the changes most likely to impact your teams.
Keep an eye out for our first edition: a new look, a broader scope, and a more connected view of credentialing updates.

NPDB Announcement
The National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) has announced that, effective December 4, 2026, the Individual One-Time Query service and Continuous Query service will merge into a single service, NPDB Query. Organizations using Continuous Query are well positioned, since those enrollments will automatically transfer to the new NPDB Query.
CredentialStream already supports NPDB Continuous Query. If your organization has been using One-Time Query in CredentialStream, see the NPDB website for instructions on exporting Individual One-Time Query subjects and importing those subjects into Continuous Query as new enrollments. NPDB has also stated that a validation report is available to identify invalid, incomplete, or duplicate subjects that need correction. Our Product Development teams are also evaluating these changes and looking for opportunities to support customers through the transition.

Sneak Peek: 2026 Trends in Medical Staff Credentialing
Now in its 10th year, the 2026 Trends in Medical Staff Credentialing report and webinar are coming soon, with the webinar scheduled for May 19, 2026.
Early insights show that staffing constraints remain a significant barrier for medical staff services and leadership teams alike. MSP leaders report that insufficient staffing is the top obstacle to advancing key initiatives, affecting process improvement (48%), provider data management (50%), and standardization efforts (45%).
For MSPs, this translates into mounting workloads and difficulty moving beyond maintenance mode. For leadership, it signals a broader organizational risk: slower onboarding, greater exposure to data integrity issues, and reduced capacity to respond to increasing regulatory and operational demands. As credentialing expectations intensify in 2026, aligning staffing strategies with transformation goals will be critical to sustaining efficiency, compliance, and provider readiness.
Look for more insights in the upcoming 2026 Trends in Medical Staff Credentialing report and webinar.

CredentialStream Tip: Heartbeat
Learn how to use CredentialStream’s Heartbeat to monitor your system.
|
|
|
|
|
|
In CredentialStream, there is a tool called the Heartbeat that lists items scheduled to run automatically or actions happening in the background of your CredentialStream environment.
NOTE: User permission in needed to access Heartbeat, check with your admin if you do not see Heartbeat.
Let's get started!
- From the top menu, select Set up > System > Heartbeat.
|
- Heartbeat has five different sections. The information in these sections is based on the modules implemented and turned on in your CredentialStream environment.
|
|
Automation Area:
The first section in the Heartbeat is the Automation Area, which lists the automated emails, faxes, scheduled events, Validate queries, NPDB queries, and more. There are two columns for each item that show how many queries or reports are currently pending and how many have successfully been sent today. This section also includes Failed Events, so any scheduled reports or communication that failed to send out as intended can be viewed.
- Select the link for the number of Emails Pending to see which emails are in the queue to send out.
- Select the Test Email link to send a test email to the email address of the user logged into CredentialStream.
|
- Select the Failed Events link to see a list of reports that were scheduled to go out earlier but failed to successfully generate.
- The Run Status column displays the word failure and the Run Status Notes column displays an error message.
|
Active Users:
- Select the link for the number of active users to view a list all of the users who are currently logged into CredentialStream.
- If necessary, an Admins can select the Close link to log the user out of CredentialStream.
|
Invalid Emails:
- Select the number of Invalid Emails Addresses to view a list of emails that do not have the correct format, like missing the @ or the .com or .edu. However, this is uncommon since the email normally can not be entered into CredentialStream without the correct format.
|
| Portal Hits:
Portal Hits displays the totals for how many providers have logged into the Hub or signed documents and submitted their application either today or in the last 30 days. Additionally, totals for how many applications were accepted today or in the last 30 days as well as any Errors that generated while the Provider was logged into the Hub are also displayed.
|
| Service Last Run:
The Service Last Run section lists all the services that are turned on in the system. In System Parameters, job steps for specific tasks, such as emails and queries, are set to run every 5-20 minutes with the goal of pushing out items in their queue.
- Select the Finished link to view the last time the job step ran and any additional information regarding what CredentialStream is doing in that background. For example, the email service lists when the email job step started, how many emails it processed and then when it stopped. It will repeat these steps continuously.
