This Month’s Focus

Credentialing teams rely on accurate information and responsive tools across provider access, verification, applications, organization and location workflows, payer enrollment, roster preparation, and privileging. When large result sets load efficiently, workflow priorities are easier to identify, and verified information is protected from unintended changes, teams can move work forward with fewer interruptions.

Recent CredentialStream updates expand the provider information supported through CAQH imports, protect completed verification work during Validate processing, improve Quick View performance, add useful organization and location workflow details, and sort Hub Workflow line items by due date. Additional enhancements streamline Hub applications, improve payer contract grids, and expand the information available through Bolt queries and outputs.

This issue also highlights selected reliability fixes, a preview of the August maintenance release, and a new navigation experience coming to the HealthStream Community.

What’s New and Noteworthy

Quick View and Hub Workflow updates help teams find and review work
CredentialStream now loads and pages through large Quick View result sets more efficiently, helping users move through high-volume work with less delay. Organization/Location Workflows Quick View also includes External ID, File Open Date, and File Closed Date columns so users can sort, filter, and review organization- and location-related workflow records with more context.

Hub Workflow line items now retain their existing overdue, upcoming, and completed status categories while sorting overdue and upcoming items by due date within each category. This makes due dates easier to review without changing how workflow items are grouped by status.

Hub Application updates create a more streamlined provider experience
Several Hub enhancements reduce unnecessary steps and provide more flexibility in configured applications.

• Providers can use CAQH credentials entered directly in the Hub without requiring the same credentials to be stored in CredentialStream Demographics.
• The Demographics section is automatically hidden when its application configuration contains only signature-related fields, creating a cleaner application experience.
• The Privileges area in an application configuration can now be associated with multiple workflows, supporting more flexible facility-specific privilege requests.

Expanded CAQH mappings support more complete provider imports
CredentialStream now supports additional CAQH import mappings for provider demographic, education, work history, language, and specialty information. The expanded mappings allow more provider data from supported CAQH import workflows to be mapped to the corresponding CredentialStream record areas.

These mappings use HealthStream’s Wallet API integration framework, which provides a standardized foundation for mapping supported third-party provider data into CredentialStream. This can reduce the amount of one-off mapping required and create a more consistent path for bringing provider information into CredentialStream.

Additional highlights this month include supporting updates in Enroll, Bolt, CredentialStream, and the Privilege Content Library.

Payer contract and roster enhancements improve enrollment work
Recent Enroll updates improve the performance and usefulness of payer contract and roster tools.

• Covering Provider NPI variables are now available for roster output when the covering provider is linked to a provider demographic record. [WI 113217]
• Payer Contract Grid performance and alignment have been improved when users sort records after horizontal scrolling. [WI 113613]
• The Payer Contract Grid now loads additional records dynamically as users scroll, helping large result sets load more efficiently while preserving grid selections. [WI 113637]

Expanded Bolt variables and exports support reporting and integrations
Several Bolt enhancements provide more options for reporting, data exchange, and automated output.

• A new Last Login Date / Time variable returns a provider’s most recent Hub login, independent of application activity. [WI 90639]
• New and updated link variables support work history, licenses, approved associates, locations, and organization/location records across Bolt and import workflows. [WI 95627, 99203]
• Workflow Export outputs now include provider identifiers and workflow record IDs, helping organizations correlate Bolt data with Connect API records and external systems. [WI 113065]
• A new First MI Last, All Titles variable provides another format for provider names in exports, letters, and reports. [WI 113214]
• High-volume workflow creation through Bolt Letter automation now performs more efficiently when large numbers of line items are generated. [WI 114231]

Additional credentialing reliability updates
Selected July fixes support more reliable verification, searching, application access, and CVO processing.

• Unsupported special characters are removed from license numbers before NPDB submission, reducing query errors. [WI 98386]
• Verification counts no longer include Ongoing Monitoring records, improving provider record totals. [WI 100905]
• Automated NPDB Continuous Query status checks now honor configured duplicate-prevention settings. [WI 110582]
• Searching for a new provider no longer continues to display information from a previously viewed provider. [WI 113571]
• Application Request pages now load correctly, and OneClickCVO verification processing references the current transaction rather than a previous transaction. [WI 114438, 115215]

Now Available in the Master Privilege Library. Nurse Practitioner, Hospice and Palliative Medicine (Acute Care)
The CredentialStream master privilege library has been expanded with a new delineation of privileges for nurse practitioners practicing in hospice and palliative medicine in the acute care setting. This form responds to growing client demand for defensible, specialty-specific APP privileging as palliative programs expand and the ACHPN-certified workforce remains limited.

The delineation is organized around one core cluster and four advanced clusters. The core cluster covers the full cognitive, communication, and prescriptive scope of inpatient palliative practice, including complex opioid and adjuvant management, serious illness communication and advance care planning, prognostication and hospice transitions, and care of the imminently dying patient. Advanced clusters address complex palliative pharmacotherapy and palliative sedation, ultrasound guided percutaneous drainage procedures, compassionate withdrawal of mechanical ventilation, and management of implanted intrathecal drug delivery systems. Each cluster opens with a definition and selection guidance to help practitioners request only what they actually perform, and procedures of similar skill and technique are combined into single line items with the rationale for each combination stated on the form.

Several features are worth noting for your medical staff leaders. Qualification criteria use a three-pathway structure, ACHPN certification, fellowship training, or a documented training and experience route backed by an extended FPPE, so organizations are not closed off from competent practitioners who have not yet met ACHPN practice hour prerequisites. Cluster-specific FPPE and OPPE plans are built into the form, with proctoring volumes, evaluator standards, indicators, and thresholds presented as institution configurable bracketed values. The evidence base spans the NCP Clinical Practice Guidelines, HPCC, HPNA, AAHPM, SHM, BTS, AASLD, SCCM, and PACC guidance, with full references included.

Validate preserves completed verification records
Validate processing now preserves verification records that users have manually completed or marked as verified. This helps prevent completed verification information from being overwritten during subsequent Validate processing.

Important Dates / Watch List

August 5: CredentialStream release date change
CredentialStream's July Maintenance Release has been moved from July 29th to August 5th. This release is currently scheduled to include additional enhancements across NPDB, workflow management, alerts, Axuall, Enroll, Hub, and Privileges. 

September 17: Coming Soon - CredentialStream Resource Center
CredentialStream is introducing a new Resource Center designed to make commonly used product resources easier to access directly from the application. Beginning with the September feature release, selecting the question-mark icon in CredentialStream will open the Resource Center with links to:

• HealthStream Community
• CredentialStream Knowledge Base and Support resources
• CredentialStream Release Notes
• Live Group Training

Selecting the Knowledge Base option will open the CredentialStream Knowledge Base in a new browser window. The Resource Center is currently planned for the September 17th feature release. No action is required at this time.

December 4: NPDB Query merger reminder
The National Practitioner Data Bank has announced that, effective December 4, 2026, the Individual One-Time Query service and Continuous Query service will merge into a single service, NPDB Query. Organizations already using Continuous Query are well positioned because those enrollments will automatically transfer to the new service.

Organizations that use Individual One-Time Query should continue planning for the transition, including reviewing subject data for invalid, incomplete, or duplicate information before moving records into Continuous Query.

Updates on the NCCPA Webcrawl
HealthStream has reached an agreement with the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) to leverage an API integration, which we plan to have implemented in Q3. Please stay tuned for more communication about this change as we move into Q3.

Frequently Asked Questions

A recent committee review of a combined Hyperbaric Medicine and Wound Care privilege form raised questions we hear often. Bracketed values are institution configurable and subject to Medical Executive Committee approval.

Common questions asked were about wound care privileging, including the differences between Level 1 and Level 2 privileges, physician qualifications and certifications, appropriate reference materials, how specific procedures such as sharp debridement, wound vacs, and skin grafts should be represented, and whether admitting privileges and treatment locations should be included on the privilege form.
