    Live: New NIH Stroke Scale Certifications
    In February, we added one more course to your hStream benefits: National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification. Thanks to your valued collaborative feedback, we already improved this offering, released a 1-year certification, and have plans to expand this certification suite further:
    • Live: National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification (2-year)
      New course version removing pediatric content and increasing CE credit! – 2.5 ANCC contact hours and a maximum of 2.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. NOTE: Any learners in progress with the previous version must complete by January 31, 2026; otherwise, an administrator must unenroll/reenroll them in the new content.

      New adult NIHSS certification course providing a 1-year certification, accredited for 2.5 ANCC contact hours and a maximum of 2.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™.
    • Expected Spring 2026: New PedNIHSS certification courses with pediatric-only test patients – both a 1-year and 2-year certification option, with both ANCC and AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™provided (CE amount pending).
    We’ll provide release updates as our teams progress, including an updated transition guide for recommendations related to student groups and assignments. As a reminder, our partnership with APEX Innovations is ending, and these courses permanently expire on August 5, 2026:

    Live: Free Access to “Essential Pediatric Respiratory Care Bundle”
    Children’s Hospital Association and HealthStream want to help address pediatric respiratory issues during the height of RSV and flu season by providing complimentary access (assignment or self-enrollment) to these courses through March 31, 2026:

    Live: ENCCO Version 5.0 from PLS
    If you contract for Essentials of Neonatal Critical Care Orientation (ENCCO) from Pediatric Learning Solutions (PLS), version 5.0 was released on December 1 – key details below. Any learners in-progress with version 4.0 must complete before it expires on December 31.  
    • Neonatal Nutrition: This course will be split into 2 lessons – Neonatal Nutrition Overview & Modalities of Neonatal Nutrition – to improve learner engagement and retention.
    • Neonatal Sepsis: This course will be reorganized, and the congenital infections content will be moved to an app-based lesson – Congenital Infections in the Newborn – that covers toxoplasmosis, rubella, CMV, etc. 
    • Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome: To better align with industry terminology, this course will be retitled – Intrauterine Substance Exposure (no content changes). 
    • Implementation Guide: Updated version designed to better support a blended learning approach with suggested additional learning activities for each topic.
    • Retiring Courses: Courses previously separated into different versions for Child Life Professionals and Respiratory Therapists will permanently retire after December 31 (below). Content and CE credit will be delivered via main course editions with the same title.

    December 31 Deadline: S.T.A.B.L.E. Instructor Bridge Training
    If you contract for The S.T.A.B.L.E. Program, please ensure all current instructors complete their bridge training by December 31, 2025, including any instructors currently in progress with the course. As of January 1, 2026, the instructor bridge will no longer be available to purchase or complete.
     
    “Activated Insights – Home & Hospice Library” Updates
    If you contract for Activated Insights – Home and Hospice Library, please note:
    • Retiring Course – This course will be retired on December 31: Calculations and Conversions for Nurses.
    • CE Expired – This course’s CE expired November 1, but it will remain active until December 31: Medicare Noncoverage and Change of Care Notices in Home Care.
     
    ENA Course Retirements & Replacements
    If you contract for ENA content (review full catalog), please note:
    • Managing Adult Behavioral Health in the Emergency Department 2.0:
      Learners in progress with version 2.0 must complete before it expires on December 12. Key changes you’ll see with Managing Adult Behavioral Health in the Emergency Department 3.0:
      • Condensed from 8 modules to 3, removing repetitive information and information covered in the workplace violence course. 
      • Obsessive compulsive disorder, dementia, and eating disorders were removed as content topics. Information on The Joint Commission patient safety standards regarding restraint use, timing, and documentation is reviewed in addition to suicide screening information. 
      • Subjective and objective assessment information, along with a focused assessment that includes the mental status exam was added.
    • GENE Level I 2.0: To receive CE credit, any learners in progress must complete before this course expires on December 31. Beginning December 9, you may assign this replacement course – Geriatric Emergency Nursing Education: Foundational Knowledge.
    • Medical Toxicology: Due to a minor typo in the post-assessment, we released a new version of Medical Toxicology in September. To receive CE credit, any learners in progress must complete the previous version before it expires on December 31.
